When the weather is really nice, my husband and I like to sit on our deck and enjoy the view of our backyard. Last Friday wassuch a day, and while we were enjoying the outdoors a big old bumble bee kept flying around. Not close enough to have to swat away, but just zinging through the air within our realm of vision. As a shamanic healer and lover of nature, I had to ask myself, what wisdom was this bee bringing me?
A few days later I pulled out my trusty guide, “Animal Spirit Guides” by Steven D. Farmer, PhD to look up the Bee and the reason it had shown up for me. Below is what the book said about when a Bee presents itself:
“It’s time to get organized and get to work on that idea that you want to implement and develop.
Approach your projects with commitment, diligence, and dedication, and you’ll succeed beyond your wildest expectations.
Involve several others in a cooperative and life-affirming venture, one in which everyone who participates will benefit-and if possible, one that includes the entire community.
Take the time to appreciate and enjoy the sweetness of life.
This is a very fertile time for you physically and creatively, one where you can bring your ideas into fruition.
This is a very productive cycle for you, so stay with whatever you’re working on, and there will be a favorable outcome.”
SAY WHAAAT??! This could not be more true for me right now. The idea I wanted to develop? This blog (among other things). I connected with a friend who provided insight on how to set up a blog, I got my page up, and I wrote my first blog.
Approach projects? I have a lot of different facets to my spiritual journey—shamanism, yoga, Ayurveda, meditation, Holistic Coach/Yoga Teacher training, self-study—and I approach those “projects” with commitment, diligence and dedication. It’s encouraging and inspiring to see that the work will bear fruit.
Involve others? My Holistic Coach/Yoga Training sure fits this bill. It is an amazing group of 20 women who are on their own spiritual journey that get together once a week to self-discover and support one another.
Appreciate the sweetness of life? Yep. Sitting on the deck enjoying the trees, sky, birds, in addition to sharing time with my husband and dog couldn’t get much better.
Fertile time physically and creatively? The yoga training and practice is certainly physical, but I would also throw in the Ayurveda, as the better eating is a benefit for sure. Creative? Hello, blog?? I would love to find more time to paint and write poetry too. Sounds like this is a good time to carve it out.
Productive cycle? That remains to be seen. But if all of the above comes together it is going to be one heck of a wonderful ride.
So the next time you have a chance encounter with an animal (insect, mammal, fish, doesn’t matter), take a moment to ponder what it might mean. I will be keeping my eyes open for sure!
