As an Advanced Reiki Practitioner, I encounter many clients who have an overactive mind. A mind that won’t shut off, constantly questioning or thinking of all that needs to be done. One of my recommendations is to develop a creative habit, something that requires your focus and concentration so all else is blocked out. For me this is taking a painting class or working in my yard.
It has been a while since I took a painting class, so when my sister-in-law signed up for a class with her boyfriend, I decided to sign up too. They were understandably nervous as they had never painted a picture before. Throughout the 2 1/2 hours they doubted their abilities and the quality of their painting, and I provided encouraging words. When it was all over, they admitted they actually had a lot of fun. And you know what? They want to do it again! And their paintings were beautiful. It just goes to show that with a little courage you can try something new and build your confidence.
So now my sister-in-law and her boyfriend are feeling more confident about painting, but could that confidence spill over into other areas of their lives? The answer to this question and how to build your creative confidence are within David Kelley’s Ted talk below. I hope it inspires you to find a creative outlet that not only brings you confidence and joy, but contributes to your well-being by allowing your mind to settle and recharge.
